Cam F. Ragland

Service: 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery; Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Cam F. Ragland, age 86, of Harrison, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23 (2015) at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1928, at Harrison, the son of F.C. and Vena Savage Ragland.  

Cam was a member of the Bellefonte Methodist Church, a charter member of the Boone County Cattlemans Association, serving on the board at both state and county levels. He was a Farm Bureau member since 1947, serving at both state and national levels, and was a voting delegate.  He was awarded the oldest living Farm Bureau member in Boone County in 2014.  He was awarded Farm Family of the Year in 1976, Grassland Farmer of the Year in 1978, and Senior Farmer of the Year. He was a charter member of the Round-Up Club, served on the board for 40 years, charter member of the Arkansas Foxtrotter Association, with his horses winning both state and national levels. He served eight years on the F.H.A. board for the Northwest District, served on the USDA board for 20 years, served on the Soil Compliance board for 10 years, on the Northwest Arkansas District Fair board 15 years. Cam was a member of the Valley Springs Booster Club 12 years.

Cam is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael  and Deborah Ragland, and Stephen and Lora Ragland; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Randal Phillips, all of Harrison; and his sister, Daphna Shipley, of Perry, Oklahoma, and her children, Vicki, Lori, Lisa and their families.  

Cam is also survived by his grandchildren, Preston Phillips, Raymond Phillips, Grant Ragland, Ashley Hare and her husband Kevin Hare, Lauren Ragland-Granier and her husband Blake Granier, and Mandy Mitchell and her husband Max Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Carley, Maddie and Colt Phillips and their mother Mandi Phillips, Tenley Hare, Hayden and Jordyn Garnier, and Hunter and Parker Mitchell; and a very special friend and companion, Joyce Young.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jo Ann Horton Ragland.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m.  Monday, March 2, at Eagle Heights Baptist Church, with Mark Donald officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons.
