Charles W. "Sonny" Hiett, 77, of Bruno, passed away Wednesday, April 25 (2018) at his home.

Mr. Hiett was born July 22, 1940, in Harrison, to the late John Winston and Gladys (Easter) Hiett.

After graduating from Arkansas State Teachers’ College, with a teaching degree, he moved from Witts Springs to Bruno in 1960 to teach school. He taught math and coached while at Bruno.

Mr. Hiett worked many years at Baxter Lab. He was a member of Witts Springs Community Church. He was a Marion County J.P., a member of Marion County Cattleman’s Association as well as a member of the Bruno Volunteer Fire Department.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Phyllis Burleson Hiett, of the home; two sons, John Hiett and Billy Joe Hiett, both of Bruno; four brothers, Danny Joe Hiett and his wife, Dottie, of Witts Springs, Ronnie Hiett and his wife, Brenda, of Marshall, Dwight Hiett and his wife, Maureen, of Prairie Grove, and Mark Hiett, of Dardanelle; his aunt, Nowanda Lewis, of Conway; and two grandsons, Weston D. Hiett, of Harrison, and Seth Winston Hiett, of Flippin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmom, Berniece Hodges Hiett; three brothers, Terry Hiett, Harold Hiett and Johnny L. Hiett; and a sister-in-law Elaine Hiett.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Bruno Cemetery.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Bruno Cemetery, with Billy Pyle officiating.

Pallbearers will be Randall Hiett, Robert Hiett, Mike Elam, Terry Gray, Jeff Baker and Jim Thomason.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McNair, James Markle, Mark Ezell, Gay Tutt, Keith and Leslie Edmonds, Dave and Janice Davis, Les Thurman, Brad Thurman and Lester Gibson.
