Daisy McAlpin, 105, of Higginsville, Mo., passed away on Saturday Oct. 8 (2011) at Meyer Care Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday Oct.14, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or John Knox Village East in Higginsville. Burial will be at Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Daisy was born June 18, 1906, at Willcockson, now Marble Falls. Daisy and her husband Roderick moved to Lee’s Summit in 1941. She was very active in the Methodist Church where she volunteered. She also volunteered at the Lee’s Summit Hospital. Daisy retired from Unity School of Christianity in 1969, and in 1984, she moved to John Knox Village East in Higginsville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roderick McAlpin and an infant son, Howard Blake McAlpin.
Survivors include two sons, James E. McAlpin and wife, Marceline and Charles D. McAlpin and wife, LaRue; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends.
