Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Holt Memorial Chapel. Pastor Glenn Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The son of Gordon and Thelma (Chapin) Thomason was born on June 26, 1932, near Ridgeway.

Dale was a graduate of Alpena High School, class of 1951, and “majored” in basketball. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. His working career consisted of being a restaurant owner of the Ozark Grill and Dale’s Restaurant and co-owner of McT Furniture, with his brother-in-law, Leroy McCormick. Dale’s true love was antiques, and for many years he made lots of friends as he and Carolyn spent time traveling the country finding pieces to bring to his antique shop. Dale loved to fish with his brother, brothers-in-law, nephews and friends but since he would not eat fish, he always gave his catch to others.

Dale and Carolyn traveled extensively and took several cruises to many parts of the world, enjoying their time together during their 60 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Florine Thomason; three brothers-in-law, Benny Maytubby, Buddy Harman and Leroy McCormick; and a nephew, Randy Thomason.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Bratton) Thomason; his brother, Gerald G. Thomason; sisters-in-law, Norma Maytubby, Betty Harman, Linda McCormick, Marilyn (Butch) Hinson, Jimmie Lou (Ademar) Nuessner and Mary (Eddie) Farmer; and several nieces and nephews.
