Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Donald Ray “Don” Arnold, of Harrison, passed away at home on Monday, Feb. 11 (2019) at the age of 82.

The son of Rex Ray and Doris Dean (Widener) Arnold was born Dec. 11, 1936, at Omaha. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Omaha High School and served eight years in the US Army Reserve.

He was an active volunteer with NARMC and the Hospital Auxiliary, spending nearly 10 years donating his time to the community. He proudly served as a Gideon, holding many positions in the organization throughout his years of service. He also served as a former mayor of Omaha, a position he was proud to hold, and was instrumental in getting the first rural water system established in Omaha.

Don loved being outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting, bass fishing and camping. He also enjoyed reading and puzzles. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he loved spending time with his family. He was a fun person and loved to have a good time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; his uncle, Hugh Widener; and the mother of his children, Sandra Arnold.

Don is survived by his son, Ken Arnold, of Omaha; his daughter, Julie Dawn Arroyo and husband Chris, of Springfield, Missouri; his brother, Bill Arnold and wife Maxine, of Omaha; three grandchildren, Travis Arnold and wife Kara, of Harrison, and Ethan and Garrett Arroyo, both of Springfield, Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Merritt Arnold; his former wife and best friend, Rose Arnold, of Harrison; three step-children, Brenda Fisher and husband, Lee, of Omaha, Patty Amyx and husband Butch, of Boise, Idaho, and Verna Pulliam and husband Tim, of Harrison; seven step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him and who will miss him.

Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
