Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at CrossRoads Community Church in Harrison, with burial at Maple Leaf Cemetery; Visitation: 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the church, with arrangements by Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Donald E. “WaWa” Heard, age 79, of Harrison, passed away Friday, Sept. 22 (2017) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. Don was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Bekham, the son of Cecil and Madge (Young) Heard. Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was a member of CrossRoads Community Church. He worked for Pepsi-Cola for 40 years. He was a member of the Joy Club and McDonald’s Crew. Don enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pitch, watching Fox news, Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke and sports.

Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, LaRue Heard, whom he married May 20, 1956. Don is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Stephenie Heard, of Harrison; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Bob Mills, of Harrison and Terri and Barry Hogan of Frisco, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Smith and husband Rudy of Ft. Smith, Anna Mae Saylors and husband Howard Gene of Lead Hill, and Carolyn Carpenter and husband Ronnie of Harrison; two brothers, Johnny Heard and wife Jeanette of Gassville, and Jerry Heard of Harrison; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, at CrossRoads Community Church in Harrison with Brother Johnny Walters officiating. Visitation is from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Maple Leaf Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tyler Mills, Mike Phillips, Will Hogan, Ben Hogan, Yurik Paroubek and Jordan Watson.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Braschler, Drew Fitzgerald, Dr. Brent Rosson and Dr. Charles Klepper.
