Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Ashby Funeral Home, with burial at Smith Rosemont Cemetery; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.

Doyle Kenneth Avaritt, of Harrison, departed this life Saturday, Dec. 9 (2017) at the age of 90. He was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Benton to Dillard Leland and Elsie Olive Avaritt.

After graduating from Benton High School, he attended Abilene Christian University and Harding University. He had a passionate love for the church and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He was married to Martha Sue Mansfield for almost 60 years, and with the strength of her support, for 70 years he traveled extensively over many states laboring as a preacher of the gospel. He helped to establish churches in Alamogordo, New Mexico; Colorado City, Texas; Farmington, New Mexico; Hereford, Texas; and in Hot Springs and Harrison. He served for many years as an elder, along with Brother Linston Avaritt and Brother James Mansfield at the East Smith Street Church of Christ, in Benton. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the North Pine Street Church of Christ, in Harrison.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Martha Sue; his sister, Ovela Wyly; his brothers, Linston Avaritt and D. L. Avaritt; and a grandson, Kendall Avaritt.

He is survived by one sister, Doris Lipe, of Havana; four sons, Keith Avaritt and wife, Lesa, of Clarksville; Don Avaritt and wife, Linda, of Vilonia; Terry Avaritt, and wife, Gena, of Clarksville; and Ken Avaritt and wife, Kelli, of Harrison; 12 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Smith Rosemont Cemetery.
