Elsie Rue Cope, 92, of Harrison, passed to her heavenly home Monday, Oct. 16 (2017) in Harrison.

Elsie, a long time resident of Harrison, was born May 31, 1925 in Murillo, Van Buren County, the daughter of Fonzo and Verbie Reves Scott.

After retirement from North Arkansas College, Elsie dedicated her time to volunteer work. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Senior Center, RSVP, local soup kitchens, and area blood drives. Elsie's mother passed away when she was 12 and with two younger brothers, she started taking care of others at a young age. She was quick to say that family and neighbors all pulled together to get them through the tough times....neighbors were an extended family in those days. The girls have told through the years about Elsie always having an extra place setting for strangers that would stop by their home looking for food. She often quoted Hebrews 13: 2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." She loved the Lord and was an active member of the Olvey Bible Church.

Elsie was proud of her ancestors and organized many Scott-Reves-Clutts family reunions. She was passionate about her family and was happiest when she could cook them a meal or do something to help one of the kids.

Elsie enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends. Those that knew her enjoyed her kind heart and clever wit.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard Cope; brother, Charles Scott, sister Susie Scott Brantley, and grandsons: Paul Brasel and Davin Oliphant.

She is survived by her brother: Martin Scott, three daughters, Ann Mason, Linda Cantrell, Jan Oliphant, five grandchildren: Becky Brasel Morse, Misty Cantrell, George Mason, Randy Cantrell, Danica Oliphant Rhodes; eight great-grandchildren: Pam Duck, Brad Duck, Matt Duck, Zayne Oliphant, Heather Stimeling, Kate Cantrell Sims, Sydney Oliphant Hawkins, Gavin Cantrell; four great-great-grandchildren: Charlotte Duck, Gunner Duck, Annie Duck, Ainslee Stimeling.

Pallbearers will be George Mason, Randy Cantrell, Brad Duck, Matt Duck, Zayne Oliphant, Gavin Cantrell, and Dustin Sims

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Olvey Bible Church with Brother Bobby Brown officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
