Gary Paul Gilbert

Posted

No services planned; arrangements are with Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Gary Paul Gilbert, better known to some as “Gilbo,” left this life for the next one on Monday, Feb. 18 (2019).

He was a no-nonsense kind of person who thought flowers were wasteful and funerals were for the living not the dearly departed, thus he didn’t want one. He made no excuses for who he was, or who he wasn’t. He was proud to be a Republican and a card-carrying NRA member; always accepted you as you were and believed in the blue-collar working class. While not religious, he did believe in good morals and accountability. Gary’s favorite holiday was Independence Day.

He loved his dogs and old guns, enjoyed fishing and telling fishing tales, spent his later years watching and re-watching old Westerns and always said he was born in the wrong era.

Gary is survived by his wife, Shirley Gilbert; his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Todd Vaughn; his son, Grant Gilbert; his “honorary” daughter-in-law, Kristina Hale; and his daughter-in-law, Angela Gilbert.

Gary is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria Gilbert, Steven Gilbert and wife Myranda, Ethan Vaughn, Jordan Vaughn and fiancé Paris Francis, Megan Vaughn, Gunner Gilbert, Tayleana Lee, Landan Lee and fiancé Diamond Horton and Jasonia Lee; and his great-grandchildren, Kadien, Avery, Gracin and Harper Gilbert, Brynlee Vaughn, Hayden Horton and Aiden and Kimber Lee.

Also surviving Gary is his aunt, Grada Dickey; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sharon Gilbert; and a bushel of nieces, nephews, and other family members. His three beloved dogs will miss him as much as we will.

With it being his wishes, there will not be a public service. If you knew Gary at all then you know he would appreciate it if you raised your glass to send him off.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a small donation in Gary’s name be made to the local Ozark Humane Society or the National Rifle Association.

Arrangements were by Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
