Harold Blackmon Ray passed away Monday, Jan. 15 (2018) at his home in Harrison. He was born in 1937 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the son of Earnest and Marie (Hunter) Ray.

He joined the United States Navy in 1954 were he proudly served for 20 years before transferring to the Navel reserves were he served another 10 years.

After his retirement from active duty in 1974 he and his family returned to the Ozarks to live at his wife’s family farm in Newton County where they owned and operated the Tippie Canoe Cafe in Ponca, for many years.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Reda (Villines) Ray of the home; and his eldest brother, Clyde Ray of Lancaster, South Carolina.

He is survived by his only child, Diamond (Ray) Mallett and her husband, Charles Lee Mallett of Hilltop; one grandson, Tucker Ray Mallett and his wife Shelby of Ward; one granddaughter, Maranda Lee Mallett of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, and his three beloved great-grandchildren, Kinsley Ray, Ryker Charles and Hadley Grace Mallett.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Plumlee Cemetery.
