J B Raulston

Posted

Celebration of Life from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Mt. Vista Rehabilitation and Health Center in Harrison, with arrangements are by Holt Memorial Chapel.

J B Raulston was born Feb. 2, 1934, and died Monday, July 16 (2018). He spent his life in the service of others – his family, his friends and his country. He was raised in Harrison, a son of Guy and Martha Raulston, the only son and middle sibling in a family with four sisters: Fern Nicholson, Faye Crowell, Patty Frederick, and Carolyn Jones who survive him. The Raulston family remains close and fiercely loyal to each other to this day. J B’s loyalty to his family carried into the family he made with his wife, Mary (Dopheide) Raulston. They were married in 1956, and twins, Kevin and Karen were born in 1958.

J B was a career military man, serving in the U.S. Army for almost 24 years with a specialty in missile technology. He could fix almost anything, from machinery, to technology, to his family’s sometimes daunting challenges. He could keep family vehicles and things around the house alive long after their practical service life, with an amazing determination and MacGyver-like ingenuity.

J B enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and traveling with Mary in their RV. He kept a sense of humor and a zest for life until the day he died.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Joseph.

In addition to his four sisters, he is survived by two brothers-in-law, Bob Frederick and Mike Jones; and numerous relatives, nephews, nieces and friends.
