Service: 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, at First United Methodist Church, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery; Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Monday, April 27, at the church, with arrangements by Holt Memorial Chapel.

James B. Bonat, of Harrison, passed from this life on Thursday, April 23 (2015) at Hospice of the Hills House. He was 90 years old. 

Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27,  followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. both at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.  

The son of Victor and Barbara Marie (Reading) Bonat was born on Nov. 24, 1924, in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

Jim was a manager with Prudential Insurance before retiring. After retirement, he worked as head of the volunteers for community education at the IRS in the state of New Jersey, retiring again after 12 years and moving to Harrison. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II seeing many battles in the Pacific Theater. Jim was a member of the VFW Post 2881, American Legion in Harrison, and the Boone County War Memorial Association. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School class, the United Methodist Men, and the Boone County Senior Club. Fishing was Jim’s favorite hobby. 

Survivors include his wife, Millie Bonat; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Robert Ernst and Laura and Don Tolhurt; three grandchildren, Katie and Brian Tolhurst, and Jedidiah Ernst; and two sisters, Nora Perna and Ruth Crabbe and husband, Thomas. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills House, 501 East Sherman Avenue, Harrison, AR 72601 or to First United Methodist Church, 1100 West Bower Avenue, Harrison, AR 72601.
