A funeral service for James B. Norton, 74, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, Newark, Ohio, with Pastor Jeffrey Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
James passed away Thursday, April 14 (2011) at his residence. He was born Jan. 26, 1937, at Boone County, to the late James W. and Josie (Hall) Norton.
James was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Teamsters Union, Ohio Highway Drivers, Steelworkers, and a faithful member of the Newark YMCA, where he spent many hours there visiting with his friends. Over the years he worked for Kaiser Aluminum, Mathis Moving and Storage, Georgia Pacific, B&L Motor Freight, and Matlack Incorporated.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Mary (Cantrell) Norton; daughter, Kimberly and husband Jerry Wolcoveick of Marietta, Ga.; son, Matthew James and wife Amy Norton of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher Wolcoveick of Marietta, Ga., Alec and Anthony Norton and Dylan Henry, all of Newark, Ohio; sisters, Fern and husband Huston Holder, Opal Wilson and Joann Graham, all of Harrison; sister-in-law, Dorothy Norton of Yuba City, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Tessie Wheeler and Melba Whitley and two brothers, Karl Norton and Ray Norton.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the funeral home.
