Jerry D. Jones, 79, of Yellville, passed away Thursday, May12 (2011) at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, Mountain Home.
He was born June 22, 1931, at Hastings, Neb., to David and Mae (Bourne) Jones. He had been middle school principal in Chadron, Neb. for 23 years. He moved to the area in 1983.
He is survived by his wife Janell, of the home; three sons, Bruce Jones and wife, Christine, of Las Vegas, Nev., Doug Jones and wife, Deborah, of Elgin, Neb. and Kevin Jones and wife, Kelly, of Chadron, Neb.; five daughters, Rae Ellen Jones of Bisbee, Neb., Mardi Whitley and husband, James, of Omaha, Neb., Dawn Moffett and husband, Mike, of Yellville, Terra Gray of Diamond City and Lark Bear and husband, Troy, of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, Daniel Paris and wife, Bootsie, of California and Darrell Paris and wife, Cindy, of Alaska; and four sisters, Beverly Annis and husband, Glen, of California, Greta Ray and husband, Robert, of California, Patsy Ulen of Alaska and Betty Holt and husband, Russell, of California; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, Yellville. Private interment will be in Nebraska at a later date.
