John T. Speer

Graveside service is at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Maplewood Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

John Townsend “J.T” Speer, age 84, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18 (2018) in Harrison.

He was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Omaha, the son of Roy and Mable (Whitaker) Speer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sons, Johnny Lee Speer and Joey Speer; his daughter, Gina Speer; and his sister, Donna (Speer) Anderson.

John was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Omaha School in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. John was a retired railroad engineer for the Sante Fe Railroad in Argentine, Kansas. He enjoyed collecting fishing lures and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

John is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Helen Speer, of Harrison; two granddaughters, Cara Wagner, of Harrison, and Carrie (Speer) Todd, of Adrian, Missouri; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; and three nieces.

Graveside service is at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Maplewood Cemetery, with Pastor Freddie Blevins officiating.
