Service: Memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Fine Arts Building, Bergman School.

Kimberly Beth (Jackson) Atkinson, 31, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on April 9 (2015) at Princeton Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Fine Arts Building at Bergman School.

Kim is survived by her husband, Kirk Atkinson; her father, Thomas Jackson; grandfather, Dema Jackson and paternal grandfather, Don Gourd; her uncles, Kip and Joan Drewry, of Maryland, Donnie and Fadra Drewry, of Jasper, and Calvin and Debbie Drewry, of Lead Hill; her aunt, Georgie and Roger Patton, of Harrison; her cousins, Jodi Boyd, Kim Langert, Jeremy, Jessica and Eli Drewry, and Chris and Zack Manning.

Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Terrie Drewry; half-brother, Matthew Arrellanes; paternal grandmother, Vivian Gourd, and grandmother, Iva Jackson.

Kim was born in Little Rock, to Thomas Jackson and Terrie Drewry in September 1983. She spent most of her early life in Harrison, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen and graduated from Bergman High School in 2001. She went on to earn a degree in computer science from Missouri State. While working in Kansas City, Kansas, she met future husband Kirk and fell in love; she found that being apart was too much and eventually moved to be with him in Birmingham. Soon after moving, she was hired as a senior consultant for Summit Technology in Athens, Alabama, working mostly for Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Kim was an amazing wife, daughter and friend to everyone. She loved to travel and experience different cultures through food and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed throwing dinner parties and sharing those culinary experiences with her friends and family back home. Her philosophy was that of kindness and positivity — she always had patience and strength in the most challenging situations.

What she lacked in longevity, she made up for in intensity.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
