Service: 10 a.m Tuesday, June 2, at First Baptist Church in Harrison; Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Smith Family Funeral Home, Green Forest.

Leon Magness, age 78, of Alpena, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28 (2015). He was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Coin, the son of Hugh and Dorothy (Molder) Magness.

Leon graduated from Alpena High School in 1955. He was a truck driver most of his life and had been employed for Powell Trucking in Green Forest. He was a man who loved to stay busy. Leon will be remembered by friends and family as a caring, respective and giving person. He was proud of his family and was always looking for a way to help them and anyone in need. His greatest joy in life was playing with his grandkids and driving them around in his truck. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Harrison.

Leon is survived by his wife, Barbara (Boesdorfer) Magness, of the home; daughters, Teresa Cabe and husband, Cyril, of Harrison, Carleen Keith and husband, Steven, of Hebron Connecticut, and Judy Hood and husband, Ken, of Marshall, Missouri; sons, Rusty Hagen, of Quincy, Illinois, and Robbie Fuchs and wife, Miranda, of Marshall, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Magness and wife, Essie, of Branson, Missouri; and sisters, Loyce Booher and husband, Gary, of Wichita, Kansas, Jackie Houlk, of Lead Hill, and Patsy Bailey and husband, Earl, of Nocoma, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Coy Magness; and sister-in-law, Pat Magness.

Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at First Baptist Church in Harrison, with Pastor Rob Davis and the Rev. Arlis Thrasher officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
