Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Bellefonte Church of Christ, with interment at Maplewood Cemetery; Visitation is open and arrangements are by Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Levy R Harris, age 95, of Harrison, passed away Friday, March 27 (2015) at Highlands of Harrison at Tims.  

He was born Monday, Dec. 15, 1919, in Boone County, to Christopher Columbus and Helen Catherine Harris.

Mr. Harris was a member of Bellefonte Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Boone County. He served in the Army during World War II and later married Velma Lee Reddell on Dec.19, 1947, in Berryville. He was a lifelong cattle and hay farmer, which was a profession he loved. He enjoyed playing basketball in his youth and watching a game anytime. Levy was a simple, straight-forward man who was dedicated to family and farm.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Lee Harris, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Johnny Gillum, of Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Junie Harris, of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Doug, Valeria and Scott Gillum; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Madison, Levy and Cooper Gillum; and brother, Leonard Harris, of Springfield, Missouri. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Viva Cecil, Vela McCutcheon, Orpha Guynn and Gail Allen; two brothers, Luster and Lowell Harris; and one grandson, Matthew Gillum.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Bellefonte Church of Christ, with Ray Crawford Officiating. Visitation will be open. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Cole, Rex Guynn, Donald Joe Hickman, Billy Joe Roberts, Ronnie Robison and David Young.
