Valley Lorene Eddings, age 87, of St. Joe, passed away Saturday, April 16 (2011) at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville.

She was born Jan. 3, 1924, at St. Joe, the daughter of William and Alta (Crow) Martin. She had worked for Duncan Industries for 26 years and was a member of Pine Bluff Church.

She loved making quilts, gardening, canning and farming. More than anything, though, she loved all her family equally. She always told us she didn't love one any more than the other. She considered the kid's spouses her own kids and there was no such thing as "steps" in her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill Eddings, they were married Oct. 18, 1939 until his death on Feb. 9, 1974. Also preceding her were her daughter, Loretta Sisco; a son, Coy Eddings and his wife, Penny; a grandson, Brian Eddings; a granddaughter, Pam Hathaway; two great-granddaughters, Maggie and Melissa Mayfield; and a sister, Eva Wheeler.

Survivors are her children, Roy Eddings and wife Gladys of St. Joe, Clifford Sisco of Western Grove, Billy Dale Eddings and wife Judy of Winslow, Elvida Lowery and husband Ron of Valley Springs, Almeda Harris and husband Johnny of Eros, Coeta Hensley and husband Steve of Valley Springs, Leveta Snyder and husband Buddy of Eros; a sister, Nadine Horn of St. Joe; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Coffman funeral Home, Harrison, with service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the funeral home chapel. Dennis Sisco will officiate.

Burial will follow in Western Grove Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Tom Leslie, Dr. John Leslie and the staff of Eagle Heights Clinic; and Kathy and Cat at Wound Care.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Hills, P.O. Box 1927, Harrison, AR 72602.
