Mike Fowler, 64, Harrison

Gary Michael Fowler, 64, of Harrison, died Thursday, May 26 (2011) while under the care of his son and daughter-in-law in Bella Vista.

He was born May 12, 1947, at Harrison, to Jack A. Fowler and Virginia Jo Villines Fowler. He left Harrison and moved with his family in 1948 to Wichita, Kan. They then moved to Cupertino, Calif., where he spent his school years. After graduating from high school, he worked as a machinist and married Lupe Valdez.

In 1972, he moved back to Harrison, where he and his brother owned and operated Southside Grocery and Gas for eight years, and then moved to Mountain Home, where, along with his brother, he owned and operated Radio Shack until 1985. He then moved back to Harrison and worked in electronics installation until his health began to fail.

He is survived by a daughter, Veronica Ann Paul of Santa Clara, Calif.; two sons, Kenny Fowler and wife Laura of Bella Vista and Kenneth Casillas and wife Michelle of Modesto, Calif.; one brother, Charles Fowler and his wife, Donna of Harrison; one sister, Donna Fowler Williams and her husband, Chris of Harrison; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack E. Fowler.

Cremation will be performed and his remains will be placed at Maplewood Cemetery. No memorial service is set at this time.

Mike’s son and daughter-in-law were highly respected by his family for taking him in their home and administering the loving care and attention he received in his final days.
