Paul Junior Carpenter

Service: Graveside at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Roseburg Veterans Cemetery, Oregon.

A graveside service for Paul Junior Carpenter will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Roseburg Veterans Cemetery. 

Paul was born Nov. 30, 1922 in Arcadia, Kansas, to James and Dolly Carpenter and spent most of his youth working on the family wheat farm. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. This period was spent in the Philippines where he received many medals. After the discharge from the Army, he held several construction jobs including the building of Powers High School. In the early 1950s, he joined the Oregon National Guard and retired in November 2002. 

He was preceded in death by wife of 59 years, Verna Carpenter. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and lots of traveling. Paul was a life member of Masons, Shriners and a past member of Coos Bay Eagles No. 538. 

He is survived by two children, daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Steve Baptista, of Roseburg, Oregon, and son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth P. and Angie Carpenter of Coos Bay, Oregon; granddaughters, Rebecca Flores and Kelley Langmann, of California; grandson, Scott Carpenter, of Coos Bay; six great-grandsons of California; brother, Jerald Carpenter, of Missouri; and sister, Wanda Tilley, of Kansas

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
