Reta Helen Usrey, a long-time resident of Green Forest, passed away late Sunday, Aug. 13 (2017) at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, at the age of 88. She was born in the Denver Community Oct. 30, 1928, the daughter of Jesse F. and Valera (Erwin) Trigg.

On October 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Rex (R.B.) Usrey. They were married for 52 years until he passed away in 2000. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She truly had a servant’s heart and put everyone else’s needs above her own. She always was concerned about everyone else, especially before her own self. She was the ultimate example of a Godly woman. She loved to garden, work in her yard, clean, and cook. She cooked countless meals in her life for so many people. She never wanted anyone to go hungry. If you came to her house, she always fed you something to eat. She made cooking look so easy. Her family will always cherish the Sunday dinners they had together. She loved her family very much.

First she started working at Ocoma Foods in Berryville in 1957, and then she transferred to Franz Foods in Green Forest, which later became Tyson Foods, in February of 1967 until April of 2004 retiring after 37 years. Not being one to stay at home and do nothing she started working part-time in the Green Forest School Cafeteria from August of 2004 until February of 2016. She also volunteered weekly at the Mercy Auxiliary Thrift Store in Green Forest. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest for many years.

She is survived by her son, Randy and his wife Jo Usrey of Omaha; her daughter, Judy and her husband Terry Darby of Green Forest; four grandchildren, Randall Bert Usrey and his wife Lacey, Jessie Smalley and her husband John, Ross Darby, and Morgan Gonzalez and her husband Fernando; six great-grandchildren, Madison Smalley, Macy Smalley, Johneese Smalley, Halle Usrey, Anthony Gonzalez and Virginia Gonzalez; her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Bernice Trigg; and sister-in-law Pauline Trigg. She is also survived by countless friends, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband R.B.; three brothers Carlos Trigg, Earl Trigg, and Hearl Trigg; and one sister Norma Stanley.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Her Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
