Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at CrossRoads Community Church, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the church; arrangements are with Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Robert Douglas Compton, 61, entered the gates of Heaven to be with Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 20 (2017).

The son of Robert L. Compton and Shirley L. Compton, he was born Dec. 25, 1955, in Seymour, Indiana.

Doug was a pillar of strength and the greatest example of living life with grace under fire as he spent the last 14 years on his journey through cancer, hoping in some way to be a small part of finding a cure to his disease.

He is survived by the love of his life, Staci L. Compton, and his dear children, Brandon Compton, Breinne Compton, Clayton Compton and Brittney Compton, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Taylor Robb, of Harrison. He is also survived by his sisters, Michelle Botkin, of Seymour, Indiana, and Peggy Vaden, of Charlotte, North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews. Doug loved his grandchildren, Kenzie, Lexie, Hunter, Bryleigh and Branson.

Doug spent most of his career in the trucking industry, including his move to Harrison 19 years ago when he became part of the American Freightways/FedEx team. He so loved his work family, as they provided unending love and support to him and his family.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at CrossRoads Community Church. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at CrossRoads Community Church.

Pallbearers are Brandon Compton, Clayton Compton, Jack Peterson, Lonnie Reisinger, Jim Fitzgerald and Michael Willis. Honorary pallbearers are nieces, nephews, grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Travis and staff at Highlands Oncology and the FedEx Cargo Risk/Claims Department.

The family would like memorial donations made to Hospice of the Hills, P.O. Box 1927, Harrison, AR 72602.
