Roscoe Ebb Jefferson, 99, Yellville

Roscoe Ebb Jefferson, age 99, of Yellville, died Saturday, April 30 (2011) at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, Mountain Home.

He was born Dec. 2, 1911, at Marion County, to John Henry and Cora Bell (Newton) Jefferson. He was the 10th child of 16 children. He married Nora Alma Bell on Jan. 22, 1938.

Survivors include daughters, Jessie Adams and June Jefferson of Yellville, Shirley Cox and husband, Walton of Flippin; son, Truman Jefferson and wife Kathy of Pyatt; daughter-in-law, Jackie Jefferson of Jonesboro; sister, Lola Burleson of Yellville and brother, Kyle Jefferson and wife Dorse Lee of Flippin. He enjoyed nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nora (Bell) Jefferson; son, Marlin Jefferson; and six brothers, seven sisters and his parents.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Burns Funeral Home, Yellville, with services at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at First Baptist Church, Yellville. Interment will be at Layton Cemetery, Yellville. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Glen Adams, Galen Cox, Randy White, Steve Gilley, Buddy King, Scot Voight, Jason Pool, Patrick Skinner and Brad Jefferson. Honorary pallbearers are the granddaughters, Cheri Adams, Susan Gilley, Angie White, Shannon King, Cindi Cox, Tonya Skinner, Melissia Pool, Donna Voight and Michelle Jefferson.

Mr. Jefferson was a lifetime resident of Marion County and served as Marion County Farm Bureau president many times as well as on various county and state committees. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yellville. He also served as Marion County Justice of the Peace. Mr. Jefferson initiated his farming days in the bottomlands of Crooked Creek and continued farming throughout his lifetime.
