Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison, with burial at Western Grove Cemetery; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.

Shirley Sue Potter, age 68, of Valley Springs, passed away Saturday Dec. 8 (2018) in Fayetteville.

The daughter of Dio McVey and Venita (Gammill) Diffey was born on Dec. 20, 1949, in Marshall.

Shirley loved cooking for her family, especially her grandkids, spending time with her loved ones, camping and family vacations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father, David Diffey; her grandparents, Margaret and Edgar Gammill; her husband, Freddy Potter; and a grandson, Colton Edwards.

She is survived by two sons, Brad Potter and wife Michelle and Shawn Potter and wife Sylvia, both of Valley Springs; two daughters, Susan Thompson and husband Doug and Kim Edwards and husband Randy, both of Valley Springs; six grandchildren, Ben Thompson and wife Erin, Jennifer Barnard and husband Hunter, Chase Edwards, Brooklyn Potter, Tel Potter and Ty Potter; one great-grandchild on the way; and many other family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison, with Pastor Roger Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Western Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers include Ben Thompson, Chase Edwards, Tel Potter, Ty Potter, Hunter Barnard and Daniel Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Pat Travis and the staffs of Washington Regional Medical Center and Willard Walker Hospice House.
