Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial at Smith Cemetery, at Vendor.

Wanda Lee Pierce Thompson died Sunday, May 3 (2015) at Harrison. 

She was born on Sept. 18, 1926, at Hasty, the daughter of John and Ann (Morris) McGowan.

She was a rabid fan of her kids' and grandkids' sports and of her Duke Blue Devils basketball team. She loved her flowers and her garden.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Pierce, to whom she was wed for 49 years. She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Laken Holt; her siblings, May Mathis, Bryan Mathis, Hoyle Mathis, Bertha Aslin, Ola Spencer, Clara Henderson and Leona Ezelle.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Thompson; her five children, James H. Pierce (Joan) of Lead Hill, Nancy "Sue" Moore (Donald) of Everton, Dwight Pierce (Sharon) of Mt. Judea, Ron Pierce (Nancy) of Van Buren, and Vicki Finch (Bernie) of North Little Rock; one sister, Erma Lee, of Hasty. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, with Brother Steven Holt and Brother Rex Middleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Vendor. No visitation.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jimmy Pierce, Jimmy Holt, Gary Moore, Larry Moore, Robert Moore and Matthew Finch. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Roy Lee, Babe Anderson and Dr. Brian Linn.
