As part of an ongoing yearlong celebration of its 50th Anniversary, North Arkansas College invites the public to the south campus on Friday, April 19, 2024, to commemorate the late Dr. Bill Baker. Dr. Baker was the founding college president who became the longest running college president in the state of Arkansas. Dr. Baker was the college’s president for 27 years before he retired in 2000. more

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the Harrison Al-Anon Family Group fellowship. On February 1, 1964, the Harrison group registered with the World Service Office as an official group of Al-Anon. It has continued for 60 years to provide mutual support of recovery to the relatives and friends of alcoholics. The group celebrated this accomplishment with a celebration on March 23. more

Michael Brewer, of Harrison, age 24, was arrested after a fatal shooting occurred on the morning of Dec. 15, 2023. On Tuesday, April 2, Brewer appeared before Circuit Judge John Putman and entered a guilty plea statement with the State of Arkansas. The plea takes Brewer’s charge from capital murder — a class Y felony, down to murder in the second degree — a Class A Felony. more
