Third District Congressman Steve Womack invites residents to a town hall meeting in Harrison at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Durand Center on North Arkansas College’s Center Campus.

The congressman said the topic will be job creation and small business growth.

“I invite you to attend one of my August town hall meetings focused on creating jobs and growing small business,” Womack said. “I look forward to your participation.”

Thanks for unsolicited, free newspaper. It makes a great lining for our litter box. How bout this for a "green project"; stop killing all those trees you use to print those newspapers no one reads anymore.

Also, outdated Union tactics to scare people will not work with this man here. Ask Neil Goldschmidt.

Ironic

How about we start using the term tali-bagger instead of tea-bagger. We certainly want to be politicaly correct.

amerfin

I was referring to people who put tea in bags. [wink]

You are welcome. I hope that this newspaper feels the same way and stops it's use on every article. If not then I suggest mau mauing these flack-catchers. Or a protest to put it simply. Or even a boycott.

I apologize for my use of the word "Tea baggers"-- I was not aware of the urban meaning and I meant no disrespect to the Tea Party or supporters of that party. I will not use the term again and I appreciate the education.

My point is and was.... All Americans, regardless of party affiliation or lobby pressures should put aside their baggage and make some hard decisions to balance the budget in a manner that does not burden future generations. We have a very serious problem that is building to devastating size.

Finger pointing leads to more finger pointing-- even if it is justified. It clouds the issue and creates an environment that will not support success. I would love to hear a Republican say-- "you know what, our party made some mistakes" and then a Democrat could say "well, we didn’t do everything right either" -- Then maybe together, the Americans in congress could fix this issue. They won't be able to if they consider themselves as a Democrat or Republican, or Green Party, or Tea Party, or whatever party.-- They need to realize that they are Americans first and America is in trouble.-- We need their help!

So you admit to using the "tea-word" as a derogatory adjective then defend using it by saying tea-;partiers use it on themselves. This is ignorance wrapped in stupidity. Some woman refer to themselves as b8tche$. Are you going to defend using that word when referring to woman? Some woman refer to themselves as w80r&s. Will you be using that term to describe them? Some African Americans use the "n" word to describe themselves but I don't think you will be using that term on here.

There is a chance for you to stand up above the fray and decide not to use derogatory terms on people you disagree with but you willingly choose not to. Your simple mind can only grasp the simple things. Liberal democrats are only happy when they can label something in derogatory terms. Liberal democrats can only see hate. I look and only see stupidity.

Of marymary's,my favorite so far is"Socialists do not purposely harm people." There should be 48,231,700 more people on Earth, but do not exist after the Nazi's 'purposely' murdered them, forcing YOUR same ideals...

MARYMARY:As I have A job to get to,I'll have to respond to your ignorant, socialist comments(present, and past) later.Sit home, sucking up tax money and and enjoying the fruits of others labor until then.Be sure to check back, though.

Gary Baces and Rob, they called themselves tea baggers until they found out it had a nasty connotation. Then, they wanted to be THE TEA PARTY.That's what ignorance will do for you.
They were ignorant of the other way it's used. Kind of like Santorum. The teabaggers are ignorant of most things, like Michelle Bachmann today saying happy birthday to Elvis Presley because she said it was his birthday. His birthday was Jan.8th. Today was the date of his death.
But then she also bragged about the people in New Hampshire at Lexington and Concord. Both of those cities are in Massachusetts. She also spoke of John Adams not stopping until slavery in the united states being erased and most of know it wasn't stopped until the civil war. The tea baggers hate what they call the intellectual elites. That means educated people.
I'll stop calling them teabaggers when they educate themselves.
And for those of you who don't believe the government should help create jobs, try to learn about Herbert Hoover and the great depression. Then find out what happened in 1937 when the republicans got their way and the government backed away from the new deal.

@garybaces

Could you please explain how the term "teabagger" is sexually oriented? And as far as hate speech, degradation and inflamation; just look at the signs the Tea Partyers display at their rallys.

garybaces

Why is The Harrison Daily Times supporting hate speech. The term "teabagger" is derogatory, inflammable and sexually oriented. It also foments hatred. Why is this newspaper supporting this sort of speech when number one up above says not to?

Johnny Raincrowe

Anyone who wants to see where Steve Womack's political loyalties lie should go to opensecrets.org and see where his campaign contributions came from.

Maybe all national politicians are bought and paid for, but I sure don't care for his masters....Wal Mart, Tyson's, Arvest Bank, Eric Cantor's PAC, Koch Industries, Entergy, insurance companies, defense contractors and the list goes on.

The man has sold his soul to these devils and in the process sold America and most of his constituents down the river.

He campaigned as a moderate Republican, military experience and mayor who knew how to get things done. Now that he's in office we see that he's become a right wing radical willing to take the country into default just to promote the interests of his corporate masters.

I'll bet Womack will be telling some whoppers tommorrow.

I won't be able to make it which is extremely unfortunate because I challenged all of our congressmen (Senators and Representatives) to try hard to win my vote because they have lost it. I am sick and tired of hearing about whose fault it is... Democrats, Republicans, Tea Baggers--- I am looking 2 affiliations in a candidate and the current congressmen do not have it--

#1- they need to be an American… concerned with the direction and leadership of this country not trying to figure out how to blame some other party for the situation that we are in.

#2- they need to be an Arkansan… and understand that they were sent to Washington to help provide direction and leadership, not to play politics-- All Arkansas congressmen should be on the same page. The silent majority that President Nixon spoke about is tired of the finger pointing.

Senator Womack-- I am sorry I will not be able to attend a town hall meeting that is scheduled in the middle of a work day (what the heck?) but, the silent majority works during that time-- try some other time when the silent majority might be able to make it but, if you are just going to blame some other party-- don't waste my time or yours!!

splashy

I would ask where are the jobs they promised? They have been doing everything BUT creating jobs, and actually blocking small business bills that would have helped.

Nagy Fekete Kutya

Would love to go, but I have a job.

Rob

Okay, amerfin, I'll make you happy, and post. If you look up that slang term you use, hopefully, you'll be embarrassed enough to never use such a crass expression again.

Funny, though how you should otherwise go on to describe Cong. Womack as a 'hostage taker' when he's one of the ones trying to free YOU from the bondage of over regulation and higher taxes.
Simpleton, is right.

NOYBNOYB

After all, what good is growing small business, and creating new jobs.Right? We can always borrow more from China, and raise taxes.Simpleton.

NOYBNOYB

amerfin:So far, just from the one from a socialist.

amerfin

Being that he is one of the hostage takers (teabaggers), I thought there would be some comments here?
