Nominations are being accepted for the John Paul Hammerschmidt Men of Distinction scholarship luncheon sponsored by Bear State Bank and the Harrison Daily Times.

The first Men of Distinction luncheon was in 2015 and the men chosen to be honored were Charles Adair, Larry Brandt, Mosco Cash, D. Jeff Christenson, Jerry Jackson, Mike Nabors, Perry Harness, Ken Reeves and Jim Stockton.

In 2016 the men honored were the late Dr. Bill Baker, J.D. Erwin, Dale Garner, Fred Garry, Dr. Joe Melton, Jerry Pinson, Ronnie Ramsey, Pat Reed, and Ken Savells.

The steering committee is looking for men with the qualities of the late Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt and achievements accomplished for the good of the community.

The luncheon will be catered by Jamies Creative Catering and funds raised will provide a scholarship for a young man at North Arkansas College.

Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Harrison Daily Times office. Forms can be filled out online at HarrisonDaily.com or picked up at the sponsors’ location — Bear State Bank, North Arkansas College and NARMC.

The luncheon is set for Tuesday, Oct. 24. Doors will open at 11 a.m. The speaker is Arkansas Senator Uvalde Lindsey. For more information contact Donna Braymer at (870) 743-0605.
