Her wishes were to have a private graveside service at Crawford Cemetery in Everton at a later date with all of her family together in one place; arrangements are with Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home in Crofton, Ky.
Hattie A. Frances (Retz) Davis left this world and entered her heavenly home with her Savior on Wednesday, May 15 (2019). She was surrounded by her family at her new country home in Crofton, Kentucky. She was 87.
She was born in Burlington to John R. Retz and Ethel (Goen) Retz on Dec. 15, 1931. She lived her whole life in Arkansas until the last two months of her life. Her family had the honor of moving her to Kentucky to live her last days with them.
Hattie and Walter were married on Nov. 26, 1948. She enjoyed quilting and made all of her grandchildren special quilts that they will cherish and hold dear.
She loved growing a big garden every year until she wasn’t able to for the past few years. She taught her grandkids how to can vegetables and work the garden.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Davis; her son, Jim Davis; her sister, Inez (Retz) Riddle; her brother, Jerry Retz; and her parents.
She was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church in Harrison and enjoyed her church family and attending church when she was able.
Hattie is survived by her daughter, Donna (Davis) Casey and husband Pat, of White Plains, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Cindy (Casey) Akins and fiancé Dustin Wagner, of Harrison, Sean Davis and wife Tashia, of Ohio, Perry Casey and wife Jennifer, of Crofton, Kentucky, and Carrie (Casey) Richey and husband David, of Benton; six great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.
