Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison, with burial at Maple Leaf Cemetery; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the funeral home.

James Richard “Jimmy Dick” Ruff, 69, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, July 10 (2018) at Maple Esplanade Assisted Living in Harrison.

The son of Arlin and Verdine (Brown) Ruff was born July 30, 1948, at Harrison. He was a lifetime resident of Harrison and a 1966 graduate of Harrison High School. He was a member of Northvale Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Jimmy Dick took over ownership of his father’s business, Ruff’s Machine Shop in 1995 and ran it for another 10 years after his father’s passing. He was a talented artist, including making custom iron works for several local businesses and churches.

He enjoyed fishing, and he loved animals. He was passionate about motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson’s. He loved to build them, work on them and to go fast.

Jimmy Dick was very kind and giving, and known for his dry sense of humor and unique interests. He loved everyone and would do anything to help someone in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors are his son, Travis Ruff and wife Sarah of Springdale; his mother, Verdine Ruff of Harrison; his sister, Debbie Ruff Johnson and husband John of Harrison; two grandchildren, Emily Ruff and Ashley Ruff of Springdale; a nephew, Andrew Johnson and wife Brittney of Harrison; a niece, Rachel Johnson of Denver, Colorado; a great-nephew, Kipton Johnson of Harrison; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Rodney Stromlund officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Andrew Johnson, Mark Harris, Walker Deakins, Shane Cole, Jimmy Smith, Kris Cole, David Ruff and Justin Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers are the Harrison High School Class of 1966.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Maple Esplanade, The Leslie Clinic, Hillcrest Home Rehabilitation and Washington Regional Medical Center.
