Nancy Capps, 80, Clarksville

Nancy Blaine Hurley Capps, a longtime resident of Clarksville, passed away on Sunday, June 28 (2009) at Portsmouth, N.H., following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Jan. 27, 1929, at Alpena, to the late Sterlin and Constance Hudspeth Hurley. She was the widow of Noble Capps of Clarksville who she married in 1948.

A graduate of Harrison High School, she attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Clarksville and also a member of Chapter CJP.E.O. For many years, she was active in Hurley Enterprises, Inc. and served as vice president.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Margaret Capps White and husband, Lee of Kennebunkport, Maine; a granddaughter, Anne Blaine White Colley and husband, Jerod of Westford, Mass.; a brother, Robert A. Hurley and wife, Susan of Clarksville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Denby Capps of Clarksville; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Ryan Colley and Ethan Noble Colley of Westford, Mass. Other survivors include a nephew, two nieces and several cousins.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with the Rev. Aaron Barling officiating. A reception will be held in the Family Life Center following the service.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville. Memorials may be made to the Clarksville First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements.
