Sue W. Byers

Finally at peace, Sue Byers ... mother, sister, dedicated animal rescue worker, crazy cat lady, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many, passed away peacefully at 3:33 a.m. PST Thursday, June 14 (2018) at Fairfield Bay.

She wanted no flowery language. No mushiness. She didn’t want this obituary (Tough, Mom! We love you.)

She jumped into the afterlife feet first, with zero regrets. She didn’t even want a funeral — not only is it a waste of money “in her opinion,” but it would deprive her of one last practical decision to “give back” by donating her body to science to help teach others. She literally arranged everything herself.

She was extremely active in her sister’s life, and donated the majority of her time to saving lost and left behind pets. Her warm heart and dedication to kindness saved many from suffering.

She loved to read, make really terrible and inappropriate (but funny) jokes, and didn’t really take dying seriously, because ... why? She cautioned us to live NOW and give as much as we could saying “you can’t take it with you.”

She was born May 2, 1949, to Robert “Gus” Earl Wiley and Jacqueline Faye Sanborn, in Bradford, New Hampshire.

Her husband, “Cowboy” Jim Byers passed five years previous; they are all now happily reunited.

Sue is survived by her sister, Sherri Northington and her sons, Eric and Robert Harris; her children, Samantha Marshall, Jason White-Byers, Mikel Byers, Kenny Byers, Katrina Byers; a ton of grandchildren; her beloved cat, Buttons; and many friends, many of which became family. She will be missed by us all.

Being the practical woman she was, she would not want flowers sent — we however feel she’d approve anyone wanting to make a donation in her honor to the rescue company she helped create for helpless animals: http://ozarkhomewardbound.com/

Thank you for loving our quirky, steadfast, one of a kind Mom — keep her close in your hearts forever, as we all will.❤️
