Willard K. 'Red' Pennington

A remembrance and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date with friends and family; arrangements are with Simple Cremation & Direct Burial, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Willard Kieth “Red” Pennington passed quietly on Saturday, Sept. 15 (2018) with family at his side  after a brief illness brought on by complications from surgery. 

Red was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ella of St Joe; father, Everett Pennington, of Bruno; brothers, James E. Pennington, of Harrison (Sharon) and Dennis Pennington, of Palmer, Alaska (Karen); and grandson, Steven M. Cook (Patricia) of Anchorage Alaska.

Red is survived by his sisters, Beverley Methvin (JC) of Harrison, and Brenda Walton (Donald) of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Deborah Cook (Brian) of Wimberley, Texas; and sons, Rick Pennington, (Erica) of Harrison, and Jason Pennington (Brittany) of Port Orange, Florida.

Red is also survived by granddaughter, Lindsey M. Tompkins (Chris) of Wimberley, Texas, and great-grandchildren, Jonah Elliott Tompkins, of Wimberley Texas, and Juliana Belle Cook and Ethan Milano Cook, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandson, Jackub Mayer, of Wasillia Alaska, and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Mayer and Myles Mayer of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, James Pelmore, Noah Pennington, Brennan Pennington, Skyler Pennington, Mercy Pennington, Kyle Bracewell, Billy Bracewell and new baby Pennington due in November, all of Florida.

He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. 

Red had a gift of gab, got along with everyone and enjoyed socializing with friends and family. Red was born in Arkansas but grew up in California. He also lived in Arizona, Alaska and finally in Las Vegas, Nevada. Red held many positions throughout his career; he retired from the city of Anchorage, moved to Las Vegas and held positions as mechanic, shop foreman, service advisor, and truck driver. 

His children will scatter Red’s ashes in Alaska at some of his favorite fishing spots, per his request. A remembrance and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date with friends and family.
