William 'Bill' Byron Hunt

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at First Baptist Church Lead Hill with burial at Maplewood Cemetery; Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the church, with arrangements by Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.

William Byron “Bill” Hunt, of Diamond City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26 (2018) at the age of 88.

The son of Vernon and Mamie (Thurman) Hunt was born in Forsyth, Missouri, on Feb. 13, 1930.

He worked for many years in the automotive industry and was a member of Lead Hill Baptist Church. He moved to Harrison in 1967 and moved to Diamond City in 1992.

Bill grew up as a migrant worker and very humble beginnings to instill a passion for hard work, integrity and respect in his children, and left that legacy to pass on to future generations. He lived life for his family and loved them very much.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman, and a good square dancer, but bass fishing was his passion. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, Barbara, and they fished many tournaments together, traveling from Canada to Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Barbara Hunt; his son, Timothy Byron Hunt; a sister, Lucille; and a brother, Jerry.

Bill is survived by his children, Roger Hunt and wife Jan, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Bonnie Shepard, of Diamond City, Joyce Conner and husband Richard, of Bella Vista, and Jim Hunt and wife Vicki, of Harrison; a daughter-in-law, Maria Hunt, of Fontana, California; a sister, Brenda Jackson, of Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at First Baptist Church Lead Hill, with Brother Matthew Kerley officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the First Baptist Church Lead Hill.

Pallbearers are Chris Shepard, Matthew Hunt, Brenden Conner, Kivet Conner, Cade Conner and Nathan Shepard.

Honorary pallbearers are Brother Todd Hunt, Chuck Archer, Geoffrey Hunt, Stephen Hunt, Aaron Hunt, Bryan Hunt, Chad Hunt, Kirby Conner, Ryan Stacy and Blaine Foster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Cancer Society.
