Marion County 4-H members recently attended the National FCS Championship and Conference in San Antonio. The group placed fifth out of nine teams from around the nation in the Consumer Decision Making contest. Consumer Decision Making (CDM) is a competitive 4-H event that teaches financial management, consumerism, and decision-making skills. The event consists of six judging classes, with two sets of reasons, and a group process activity. more
The Individual Artist Fellowship program, which awards up to 18 creatives $5,000 each, will close for applications Feb. 5. more
Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield has announced 75 schools in Arkansas have been selected to receive $2,500 each to create calming rooms to address the mental well-being of Arkansas students. more

The meeting will be at the Arise Church, 1601 East Main Street in Mountain View. Please have your membership card on hand. Alpena School District has named their December students of the month. Student nominations were taken using the following criteria: being respectful, service to others, showing growth academically or socially, being helpful to staff and students, having a positive attitude toward learning and others around them, and having good character all around. The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is seeking participants for the Arkansas Future Ag Leaders Tour. The tour will be held May 13-17. This five-day professional development opportunity is for undergraduate juniors and seniors enrolled in colleges of agriculture, or are pursuing agriculture related majors across the state of Arkansas. Agriculture and agriculture related professions are the number one employer in the state. This one-week experience will enhance students’ leadership and employability skills, provide firsthand networking opportunities with potential employers, and highlight the vast resources, services, and careers available through Arkansas’s agriculture industry. more
