The 2024 Veterans Day parade was held on Monday evening, beginning at 5 p.m. The parade's route started at the Creekside Community Center parking lot and circled the downtown square. The theme for the parade was “Celebrating Our Veterans.” more
HPD officers and friends will be collecting donations to take children in need Christmas shopping again this year. Donations can be made in person at the Harrison Walmart on Friday, Nov. 15, 4-8 p.m. or Saturday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. You can also drop off donations at the Harrison Police Department located at 118 Industrial Park Road. Angela Vrentas is a native of Fresno, Calif. She lived in Kansas City, Mo. for 15 years after graduating from her Fresno high school. She shared how she chose to move to Arkansas, “I met the father of my daughter in Kansas City, and he told me Arkansas had always been a dream of his to live, so we packed up and moved to this state in 2017.” more

The Compton Community Association hosted Compton Community Day on Saturday, November 2. It was a cool, cloudy day, but it was a great start to fundraising efforts. Folks enjoyed ringing the old school bell. Flags were on display from the old days at school. Debbie Clark Cook won the Flower Garden quilt. There were nearly 40 raffle prizes won by other folks. A great way to keep up with local events is to follow the Compton Community Association Facebook page. more
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving day. Our family will get together for the Thanksgiving meal. It is always a pleasure visiting with the family. Carl and I plan to spend the day on Friday after Thanksgiving Christmas shopping. more
Ten members of the Harrison High School Class of 1955, and their 11 respective guests, celebrated the sixty-ninth anniversary reunion of the class on Saturday evening, Oct. 19, at the DeVito's Resturaunt in Harrison. more
