Veterans Day observances are held each year on Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. This specific time was chosen in observance of the end of fighting during World War I. A cessation of hostilities had gone into effect between the Allied nations and Germany on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.
