‘Embrace Grace’ fills ministry gap

Posted

Embrace Grace is an organization that works with StandForLife.com to offer support to a woman with an unplanned pregnancy.

Creative Director, Josh Shank and his film crew from RocketRepublic.com recently interviewed an expectant mother of four who has been attending Embrace Grace classes at Open Door Baptist Church.

Rose said, “If it hadn’t been for Embrace Grace and this church I don’t think I would have had the confidence to keep this baby. But with their help, I know I can now.”

“We are interviewing several women around the country to give a holistic view of Embrace Grace and their partners. The Stand For Life organization is made up of about 100 partners who offer assistance with adoption, housing, employment as well as church and community support.”

Founder Amy Ford said, “God wants us to help people help people. Let’s encourage the church to be the church while helping her be brave.”

Embrace Grace exists to help inspire and equip the church to love and encourage single and pregnant young women and their families. Women experiencing unexpected pregnancies receive practical, spiritual, and emotional support through the global support groups.

Through our message of love, we are helping women see that they can have their baby and their dreams too! Being pro-life is a stance, a belief system, a vote. And it’s important. But being pro-love is an action, the boots on the ground, the hands and feet of Jesus, the church. Together, we can make abortion unthinkable.

The leader for the Open Door Embrace Group, Audrea Larson said, “So often, women with unplanned pregnancies feel shunned by the church (as a whole) when what we should be doing is embracing them and showing them Grace. Our church has had the opportunity to start the first Embrace Grace group in our community with Rose as our first momma participant. She and her children have breathed new life into our church in so many ways. Not only do we get to provide for mom’s physical and spiritual needs, we get to do the same for her children. It is really a privilege to get to serve the Lord in this way.”

“It’s also our goal to get people involved in pro-life organizations,” Shank said. “We’ve found that many people believe in being pro-life, but we ask ‘what are you actively doing to promote life?’ So we hope to mobilize the church to become actively pro life in their community.”
