Hoping everyone enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving. We are in a wonderful community, state and nation and we have so much to be thankful for. And can you believe the high 60- and 70-degree temperatures in December? Just wait …
We all enter the traditional Christmas holiday season with lots of thoughts. Kids: Christmas break and presents (likely). Parents and employees: Christmas break and can we afford those presents … if they’re actually available. Business owners: will the supply chain come through and can we make it a successful year.
This year has been … well, has been. No one knew what was coming following 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Lots of questions, and not a lot of answers. But … we all survived. Businesses, and those in the Harrison and Boone County region in particular, actually thrived. From manufacturing to retail to services, all enjoyed an upbeat year … not without challenges of course, but all-in-all, a very good year.
In several cases, record years for production and manufacturing sales, hospitality revenues, and rising wages. Increasing student numbers in schools and colleges. Millions of dollars in broadband and road infrastructure investments across the region. New businesses started/opened and flourishing … and more to come in the weeks and months ahead. Community ‘quality of life’ investments coming to life on many different corners of the region. As demonstrated by the numbers year-to-date, the overall economic picture for our growing community is bright!
None of the successes we’re enjoying today would be possible without the commitment of so many individual community leaders, both volunteer and elected, and their teams of associates/employees who produce and give back in so many different ways each and every day of the year. Thanks to each for your community service.
And don’t forget … the Small Biz Connection is hosting its second annual Shop Local Scavenger Hunt through December 11. Get those codes scanned and in the mix for some great cash and prizes.
From the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce … the staff (Wilson, Amy, Lloyd and me) and our Directors (Melissa, Tara, Chris, Scott M, Mike, Don, Jim, Gwen, Neil, Jason, Neal, Chris, Joan, Stewart, Mike, and Scott T) … Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
In 2022, we’ll continue Taking Care of Business! Cheers, Bob
