The city of Jasper is holding a spring information and job fair at Bradley Park Friday, April 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mayor Jan Larson said during Thursday night's city council meeting there will be several businesses conducting job interviews at this event, so anyone needing work might find a job to their liking. She said about 40 area businesses and agencies have either reserved space at the fair, or have indicated they would.
Info/Job Fair 2021 is designed to provide education and job opportunity information to the public. Larson said she was surprised when she learned there will be job interviews conducted on the spot.
Among the concerns participating with job opportunities awaiting are: Ozark Cafe, Blue Mountain Bakery, WorkForce, Newton County Nursing Home, National Park Service and the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas.
Other participants include: NW Arkansas Housing Authority, US Department of Agriculture, Newton County Senior Center, Survival Flight, Boston Mountain Rural Health Clinic, University of Arkansas Extension Service, Legal Aid of Arkansas, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge's Office, the Jasper Community Garden, Jasper Farmer's Market, volunteer fire department Fire Wise Arkansas, Jasper Police Department, Air Evac Life Team, Single Parent Scholarship of Arkansas, The Newton County Christian Food Room, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Harps Food Store, Farm Upon a Rock, Newton County Sheriff's Office Resource Officer program, Ruby's Three wishes and Early Childhood. Larson said several more are also expected to attend.
Larson said there is a desperate need for child care services in the county. She said there will be licensed in-home child care information presented during the fair. These jobs would be perfect for workers who love children and want to work from home.
Larson added that a lunch would be provided and there will be prize drawings throughout the day.
