Mountain Meadows Monument Upgrade-

Steve Richardson and crew members with Richardson Construction Company prepare to pour concrete near the Mountain Meadows Monument located on the Northeast corner of the Boone County Courtpark. In September 1857, more than 120 emigrants, mostly from northwest Arkansas, were headed for California with the Baker-Fancher wagon train. They were murdered by Mormon militia at the Mountain Meadows in Utah. Only 17 very young children were spared, and they were eventually reunited with their families back in Arkansas. Bricks with names of the wagon train family members will be inserted on top of the concrete to honor them.
