Greetings from Capps. Spring fever is definitely here. We've enjoyed warm temperatures while the northern parts of the country are experiencing cold and blizzards. Some daffodils are blooming on Creel Road and I saw a Redbud in bloom in Capps also. Hopefully we won't have a late cold spell this year. The Homesteaders Swap Meet will be starting back up before long. Lots of activity on the Facebook page lately. Capps Batavia Fire Department responded to a large brush fire last week that burned several acres north of Harrison. Two homes were threatened but thankfully it was under control before spreading too close. Lots of folks are burning limbs that broke in the January snow storm, including myself. Waiting for cool, calm weather and not leaving fires unattended helps mitigate the chance of wildfire. We also had a representative from the new subdivision going in up Terrapin Creek Road attend our board meeting to discuss concerns about water supply issues for the area. Around 120 home sites are planned. I had lunch with Pastor Collie from Batavia Assembly of God last week. It was good to get to know him and have some fellowship. Their family moved here about a year before we did. I look forward to hearing from you about events, people and history of the Capps area. Blessings, Doug
