Greetings from Capps. It was a busy week for the Capps Batavia Fire Department. We responded early last Sunday morning to Sandflat Road for a lightning strike on a propane tank that ignited a small fire in the gas fireplace. Thankfully, it was contained to a small area and smoke inside the home was minimal. We had our annual firefighters meeting on Monday night and Wednesday morning we got called to assist Omaha Fire with a storage building Fire at Lilly Hobbs, which we didn't get to as it was put out quickly and we weren't needed. Our good friend, Russell Faddis, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday afternoon. He had battled an infection in his leg for several months and although we'll miss him, we know we'll see him again in glory. His sister, Wanda Henderson, of Capps, had also passed away recently. I got a surprise blessing when a woman I hadn't met before stopped by the nursery and gave me two booklets entitled, "Legends of the Hills", from the Alpena Historical Society. They contain stories from Boone and Carroll counties and Batavia and Pilot Knob as well. I look forward to perusing them soon as I'm a history buff. Thanks to everyone who has given me feedback about the article. I look forward to hearing from you. Blessings, Doug
