Realtors enjoy luncheon, awards

Posted

The Harrison District Board of Realtors was able to meet in person for the first time in 13 months at Western Sizzlin on Tuesday, April 13. The 2020 Awards for Excellence were passed out in a COVID-safe drive-by setting on Tuesday, March 16, which was sponsored by Arvest Bank and Lenders Title Company.

But not everyone was able to attend, and when COVID restrictions were eased, the Board of Directors made the decision to host their March monthly meeting in person and proceed with group photos.

The room was electric with excited Realtors reuniting acquaintances and catching up with friends. Several businesses provided door prizes to welcome the Realtors back.

The public is often confused during award time because it appears the Realtors all profited millions of dollars. But that is not the case. At the time of a 2019 interview with the Harrison Daily Times, Melissa Collins was chairman of the Realtors Awards for Excellence committee and said, “The average Realtor in Harrison is probably at the Gold level which is over $3.5 million dollars. That does not mean they earned $3.5 million,” she said. “That would be nice, but that is not the case. For the awards, Realtors add up the total volume of all the property values that sold during that year. If two Realtors represent the listing or selling of the same property, they both get to count that value in their report for the award.”

Not pictured and earning the Bronze Award for sales up to $1,000,000 was Mike Bishop, FIG Realty and Kayla Pratt, Jerry Jackson Realty.
