Thais Gentle “Cricket” LPN

It has been said, “A nurse is not what you do. It is what you are.” Thais Gentle, LPN, better known by her friends and co-workers as “Cricket,” embodies her profession. “I started kind of late in life, but I’ve always wanted to be a nurse,” she explained. “I guess I just never had the opportunity. Then one day I did,” she said. “The opportunity came up. I went to school. I was still in nursing school when I got a job PRN (a term meaning “as needed” rather than a regular schedule) at NARMC on the third floor. Worked PRN until I got my license. Started working full-time the next day on third floor nights. I worked there 8 ½ years,” she proudly explained.
