Welcome back to school. I hope you had a fun summer full of adventures. Now it’s time to focus on the fun and the adventures we can have while we are learning. It all starts with your attitude.

Grumpy attitudes lead to a “bad day.” Bad days lead to poor grades and difficult relationships with your friends and teachers. You might say something that hurts feelings and regret later what you said or did.
So change from grumpy glasses to thankful glasses. Feeling down or nervous about a school project or activity? Having a positive attitude makes things go better. Author Jon Gordon says, “Monday’s are a great way to focus on what we GET TO DO instead of what we have to do. Life is a gift, not an obligation.”

You have the whole new school year ahead of you. Gordon also says, “Success is often measured by comparison to others. EXCELLENCE on the other hand is all about being the best we can be and maximizing our gifts, talents and abilities to perform at our highest potentials.” Pursue excellence today.

What if you’ve already messed up this year? That’s OK. There is still plenty of time to continue to do your best.

It’s been said by several famous people, “You never fail, unless you quit trying.” So pick yourself back up, dust off your knees and focus on listening carefully in the classroom. Get that homework assignment done promptly — don’t put it off. Reward yourself with something fun after completing the task and keep trying your very best.
