Week of August 24

Published 4:00 am Sunday, August 30, 2026

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and told us that you love reading about the great things that are happening across the Harrison School District. We have had another busy week of learning.

The Harrison Preschool students are learning all about themselves and how to love who they are. They are also working on colors. On Friday of each week, the entire Preschool comes together and has a sing-a-long about the color of the week. Our youngest learners are working hard.

The Harrison Kindergarten students are finishing up the state screener and have begun working on learning letters and sounds. They are looking forward to Grandparent’s Day on September 15.

The second-grade classes at Skyline Heights Elementary are enjoying their reading unit on Seasons. They are learning about the changing of the leaves in the Fall and are doing all kinds of interesting and fun things having to do with that season.

The first Forest Heights Elementary Golden Goblin assembly for this school year will take place on Friday, September 4. The first-grade classes have been learning about books and stories, and why it is important to treat books with care.

Mrs. Jackson’s students at the Harrison Middle School are investigating earthworms this week. In the coming weeks, they will be learning all about earthworms and what makes them wiggle.

The Harrison Middle School will host Bingo Night on September 1. This is their main PTA fundraiser, which helps support students and staff. It is always a fun night.

Ms. Dixon’s Pre-educator class at the Harrison High School has begun observations this week. They will be observing at the Harrison Preschool, Skyline Heights, and Harrison Kindergarten in the next week or two. These future Goblin educators will be in the field most Fridays and one Wednesday a month. We are excited to have this program at Harrison High School.

The Harrison Agri Department has been named Outstanding Ag Program of the Year for 2025-2026. This honor reflects the hard work of the students, FFA members, and everyone who supports the program. We are proud of what the students, Mr. Emmett, Mr. Hale, Ms. Duggins, and Ms. Harrison continue to accomplish while providing opportunities to learn, lead, and grow.

Mr. Rook’s accelerated Biology classes looked at the nature of science, “How we do Science” this week. They performed an exercise and then checked heart rates to see how the exercises were affecting them differently.

What a great week of learning in the Harrison School District!
