Mayoral debate on Monday

Published 4:00 am Saturday, October 10, 2026

Monday night, candidates running for the office of Harrison mayor will have the opportunity to express their views and why they should be elected to the position.

Mitch Magness, Rhonda Watkins and Jason Watts have all agreed to attend the debate that will be held at 6 p.m. at Camp Jack located at 411 South Pine in Harrison.

Candidates will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves and express why they should be the next Harrison mayor.

After the introductions, the candidates will get to answer questions that were submitted by Harrison residents.

More than 125 questions were submitted for the debate. The number of questions was trimmed to fit the debate format.

Each candidate will be given two minutes to answer constituent questions. After the initial answer has been given by the first candidate, the remaining two candidates can answer the question themselves or rebut the responses given by the other candidates.

There will be a rotation of which candidate will answer first.

After the conclusion of the constituent questions, each candidate will be given an opportunity to ask each of their opponents a single question. The questions can be different for each opponent.

The debates will be live-streamed on different media channels. A Little Birdie Told Me and the Harrison Daily Times Facebook page will be streaming the event.

The debate is sponsored by Wilson Automotive and the Daily Times.

Justin Wilson of Wilson Automotive and A Little Birdie Told Me and Michael Gripp of the Daily Times will moderate the debate.

In the spirit of giving, those that are attending the debate are urged to bring a canned good to help stock pantry shelves for the upcoming holiday season.
