Preschool students are continuing to work on their Community Helpers Unit. They are beginning their study of Autumn and all the fun things that go with the season. Pumpkin life cycles, pumpkin experiments, pumpkin tasting…all things pumpkin! Students celebrated “Boss’s Day” by surprising Preschool Administrator, Jenny Cowling, with flowers and a gift card.
Kindergarten students enjoyed their trip to the pumpkin patch. They enjoyed exploring the grounds, riding on the hay ride, and winding their way through the maze. Thanks to the Lil’ Gobs PTA, every student received a t-shirt to wear on the field trip.
The Harrison Fire Fighters visited the students at Forest Heights this week. The firefighters brought valuable reminders about changing the batteries in the smoke detectors, setting up a safe place for meeting in case of a fire, and of course, STOP! DROP! And ROLL! The students loved checking out the awesome gear and special equipment on the fire truck.
Mrs. Collier’s second graders at Skyline Heights finished their unit about the four seasons. Their beautiful artwork and writing have been on display in the hall at Skyline. The front windows at Skyline are looking very patriotic thanks to Mr. Ruben and Skyline Heights PTA. Anstaff will be grilling hot dogs for Skyline’s America 250 Celebration on November 12.
Ms. Angelow’s class made a trip to Crystal Bridges on Monday. Students used their hands to make magnifying cameras, which they used to inspect paintings. They also played “I Spy” with the art to locate hidden features. The tour guide played a game of “telephone” with the students to show them how stories can change over time. Students enjoyed seeing contemporary pieces, as well as paintings from the 1800s. Students were mesmerized by the large AI screen, which constantly changed with vivid colors and movements.
Ms. Magouyrk’s Harrison Choir Students made a great showing at ArkCDA’s Region 6 auditions. Choir students learned music and auditioned individually for a panel of judges. Ten students placed at the Junior High Level (8th and 9th grade), while twelve students placed at the Senior High Level. These students will participate in the All-Region Choir performance on November 7th in Bentonville. Then, seven of the students will advance to All-State Auditions in February.
The Harrison High School Theatre Department will present “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” on October 22, 23, and 24, at 6:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center at Harrison High School. Contact Rebecca Dixon for more information.
